Matan Baltaxa will leave Maccabi Tel Aviv FC and join Hapoel Be’ersheva. 

Baltaxa, initially joined Maccabi in 2017 and won between 2019-2021 four trophies: the State Cup (20/21), Toto Cup (20/21) and 2 Super Cups (19/20 and 20/21).

 

 After a move to Austria, Baltaxa returned to Maccabi in January 2024 and played a part in the side that won the Championship (23/24), Toto Cup (23/24) and reached the Conference League Round of 16.

This season Baltaxa added another trophy to his cabinet with the 2024/25 Super Cup, and helped Maccabi reach the Toto Cup Final and the Europa League phase.

Madmon scores U21’s winning goal

While the domestic leagues across the world are all enjoying an enforced break due to national matches, Maccabi’s Israeli internationals are all in action.

No less than eight players are in the Israel national team squad that suffered a 3-1 defeat to Belgium in the Nations League. Gabi Kanichowsky who was left out of Friday’s squad that played Belgium is set to join Dor Peretz, Raz Shlomo, Idan Nachmias, Roy Revivo, Sagiv Jehezkel, Dan Biton and Dor Turgeman in Monday’s national squad which will host Italy.

Israel’s U21’s beat Estonia 1-0 thanks to an Elad Madmon 67th minute penalty with new signing Stav Lemkin also completing 90 minutes while goalkeeper Ofek Melika was an unused substitute.

Tyrese Asante made a late second half substitute appearance for Holland’s U21’s that beat North Macedonia 5-0.

Kanichowsky voted as KOPELL GROUP Player Of The Month

After taking the 2024/25 campaign by storm with some endless work all around the pitch and several assists topped with a goal, you voted for Gabi Kanichowsky as the KOPELL Group sponsored Maccabi Player of the Month of August.

The diminutive Israeli international midfielder who helped Maccabi reach the inaugural Europa League phase and continued with a fine display in the league, received most of your votes. Kanichowsky was facing tough competition from Dor Peretz and new signing Issouf Sissokho who came in second and third.

Lemkin joins Maccabi on loan

Stav Lemkin will join Maccabi Tel Aviv FC on a season-long-loan from Shakhtar Donetsk after both clubs reached an agreement with an option of making the move permanent.  

 

The 21-year-old central defender (190cm) who was part of Maccabi’s Youth Academy between 2011-2018 joined Shakhtar in the summer of 2023 from Hapoel Tel Aviv. He then won the Ukrainian League title last season and was a member of Shakhtar’s Champions League campaign.

Lemkin, successfully completed his medical at the club and will wear the number 4 shirt. Shortly after signing his contract Lemkin told the club’s official website: “I am delighted to return to Maccabi Tel Aviv, a club I grew up at.  I can’t wait to meet my new teammates and start working hard to justify the faith shown in me. My aim is to help the team achieve all our targets for the coming season by winning as many domestic titles as possible and having a successful Europa League campaign”.

Lemkin has 3 international appearances for the Israel national team, making his debut against Romania before featuring this summer for Israel’s Olympic Team in France.

Last summer Lemkin was a member of the Israel side that reached the Semi Final and finished third in the U20 World Cup Finals. Later that summer, he was part of Israel’s U21’s that reached the Semi Finals of the European U21 Championship Final.

In the summer of 2022, Lemkin was part of Israel’s youth team that reached the final match of the European U19 Championship finals.

Lemkin scored 2 goals and has a total of 40 international appearances for the young Israel national teams at U16, U17, U19, U20, U21 and U23 levels.

Patati joins Maccabi

Wesley Patati joined Maccabi from Santos after an agreement was reached between the two clubs for the transfer of the Brazilian forward who signed a three-year deal with an option to extend by a further season.

 

The 20-year-old Brazilian (172cm) who can play in various positions upfront, represented his country’s U18’s national team twice and is a member of Brazil’s U20’s.

Shortly after successfully completing his medical and signing his contract, Patati, who will wear the number 17 jersey at Maccabi told the official website: “To be here and get the opportunity to play for Maccabi is very exciting for me. Meeting my new teammates, entering the stadium and of course meet the fans of this amazing club is something I can’t wait to do”.

Patati, made his first footballing footsteps at the Santos Youth Academy made his senior debut in July 2022 in the Brazilian Cup and has since scored a total of 18 goals in 65 appearances in all competitions for the Sao Paolo club.

Nidam signed contract extension and Loaned to Kiryat Shmona

Nadav Niddam, signed a contract extension at Maccabi Tel Aviv until the end of the 2025/26 season and was loaned to Ironi Kiryat Shmona after an agreement was reached between the two clubs.

The 23-year-old midfielder signed a one year extension on his contract before joining Kiryat Shmona where he spent a loan spell in the 2021/22 season.

The Israel Professional Football Leagues published on Tuesday the confirmed dates and kickoff times of the Winner League MD3 – MD15. Maccabi’s rescheduled MD1 home match against Hapoel Jerusalem which was postponed due to the Europa League Playoff, will now be played on Wednesday September 18th (Bloomfield at 17:30).

Peretz sums up the victory at Petah Tikva

Dor Peretz has been enjoying a fine start to the 2024/25 campaign as the midfielder scored three goals in nine appearances in all competitions this season. Against Maccabi Petah Tikva for what was Maccabi’s league curtain raiser, Peretz added two assists to take his tally to four on the way to a 3-0 convincing and clinical display.

“The first half was excellent. We were energetic, created loads of chances, too the lead and from there onwards it was easier” Peretz whose assists to Gabi Kanichowsky in the 31st minute followed by another to Hisham Layous on 42 gave Maccabi a 2-0 lead at halftime. “We had a dip in form in the second half, but the first half showed the Maccabi we would all like to see. This is the beginning of the journey, there is plenty of room for improvement, so we are facing forward.”

After helping Maccabi reach the Europa League phase which this season will include eight matches. With Maccabi hosting its’ home matches abroad due to the situation in Israel, Peretz, acknowledged the demanding schedule ahead: “It will be challenging as there will be plenty of flights, we will be forced to recover quickly and prepare for matches in the best possible way. The league is our bread and butter, so we will have to prepare ourselves for every match in the league and in Europe.“

On the Europa League draw that will see Maccabi face the likes of Porto, Ajax, Besiktas, Real Sociedad, Sporting Braga, Bodo/Glimt, Midtjylland and RFS, Peretz added: “It is an amazing experience to be on this stage and play against such clubs. From here onwards it is in our hands to do our best we can. In one given game anything can happen. But let us take one thing at a time. Now we have the international break before us so we will have time to prepare ourselves for that.
