As part of the Maccabi Tel Aviv Football Club Foundation programming, a brand new initiative began allowing Lone Soldiers the opportunity to take part in a fully funded Driver’s License Project together with The Lone Soldier Center – In Memory of Michael Levin. At the match against Maccabi Netanya the Club held a special ceremony honoring the soldiers who took part in the project.

The soldiers were invited onto the Netanya Stadium pitch together with David Ronen a volunteer from the Lone Soldier Center and Israel Haikin a fan of the Club who was instrumental in this initiative. Josh Halickman, the Head of the Foundation presented Haikin with a framed Israel 70th Anniversary Kit.

It’s important to note that obtaining a driver’s license is one of the basic necessities in order for one to be able to function and obtain employment. For a Lone Soldier who is just being released from the army, it’s a step that will help open up doors for them in the job market. Four soldiers took part in the fully funded driver’s license project and the goal is to be able to continue this project and help more lone soldiers in the coming seasons as well.
