Yesterday Maccabi Tel Aviv defender Carlos Garcia joined head coach Oscar Garcia at a press conference in the run up to tonight's match against Bnei Yehuda. Earlier in the day the team held a practice and midfielder Eran Zahavi received a jersey with the number 7 for his newborn son from sports director Jordi Cruyff

At a press conference held in the run up to tonight's encounter with Bnei Yehuda, head coach Oscar Garcia recalled the last time the two clubs met in round 10 last November: "The missiles were flying but we had to play anyway. We've played them twice already this season without a win. Bnei Yehuda are an excellent club with good players and I hope the results will be better this time." Referring to last week's win in the Derby he said: "After a win like that you need great mental character because dwelling on last week's triumphs is not a good thing. I hope all the players will be focused on the match against Bnei Yehuda because it's important not to be overconfident and give it your best effort." He added: "The way lots of clubs think, when they lose everyone says we're having a bad run of form. At this club, win or lose, we have only one way of thinking.  And the players know that the way is to win every match."

When asked about Bnei Yehuda's Argentinian midfielder Pedro Joaquín Galván, Garcia had this to say: "He's a good player but Bnei Yehuda have a good squad. I'm very happy that Rafi Dahan and Yagil Biton (both on loan from Maccabi) are getting playing time and playing well."

Defender Carlos Garcia also attended the press conference and spoke about recent arrival Ignacio Fidileff: "To compete at the top we need more than just a good starting lineup, we need a squad with both depth and quality. Fidileff is an excellent player who will be of great help to the club." Referring to the match against Bnei Yehuda he said: "We approach every match the same way, with the same level of focus, whether or not we've won the previous match. And believe me we're back in focus after the Derby because we've got only 47 points and no club in the world wins a championship with 47 points." He added: "We're only concentrating on Bnei Yehuda and how to improve our game. Win or lose, we always work very hard for the next match."

Earlier in the day Maccabi Tel Aviv players assembled at the Kiryat Shalom training ground for a practise session in the run up to the match against Bnei Yehuda. Before the session sports director Jordi Cruyff handed recent arrival  Eran Zahavi a yellow Maccabi jersey with the number seven for his newborn son Roy.
