Eran Zahavi, the league’s leading goal scorer and the Yellow-and-Blue captain discussed his side’s 2:1 win over Hapoel Haifa on Matchday 24. Number 7 also spoke about the battle for first place with Hapoel Beer Sheva, Orlando Sa’s return to the pitch and playing teams that are fighting against relegation:

ערן זהבי מסכם את הניצחון על הפועל חיפה

“We played a decent game. We didn’t create enough chances in the first half but in the second half we played much better and could have even ended with a larger margin but I’m happy that we took the three points.”

Playing teams that are fighting relegation:

“It’s never easy when you play a team that is lower down on the table when we are fighting for the title as these teams are looking to take a point and save themselves from relegation. But at the end of the day we collected all of the points and that’s what is most important.”

Pressure to win the match:

“I don’t think we felt any pressure on the pitch. In the second half we created many opportunities and had a number of scoring chances. In the first half we missed some great chances but we did what we had to and picked up the three points. We will continue on our path. There was really no pressure at all.”

Beer Sheva is playing after Maccabi:

“It really shouldn’t interest us. We have to just concentrate on ourselves and make sure that we take as many points as possible by the end of the year and focus on our team.”

On Orlando Sa returning:

“We played much more attacking football and had more space to operate in the second half. Of course Orlando is a striker who can really help us and the players that played earlier in the match did a good job as well. He had a bit of bad luck but now he is back with us and I hope he can help us like we all expect he can.”

Looking  ahead:

“I want to look at our team match to match. How we can take more and more points, but I don’t want to look to far ahead because if we do we may not handle what is right in front of us properly. What’s most important is to collect three points in each and every game.”
