Ben Mansford’s departure from Maccabi Tel Aviv FC

Maccabi Tel Aviv would like to thank Ben Mansford for his hard work and dedication over the last 2 seasons as well as his contribution to the Club’s success on and off the field. Ben played an instrumental role in many aspects including his managing Financial Fair Play matters

Ben’s passion for football was clear to all who met him and who saw him at football games up and down the country involving all age groups. Ben made many friends during his time in Israel. We wish Ben good luck and we look forward to him visiting us in the future where he will always receive a warm welcome”. 

Ben Mansford, added: “It is with a heavy heart that I leave Maccabi to return to the UK. I have greatly enjoyed my time as part of the Maccabi family. I’d like to say a huge thank you to the best supporters in Israel who have made my wife and I welcome from the first day. You left me in awe time and time again. To all the staff, players and stakeholders, thank you for your commitment and dedication. 

A special thank you to Sharon, Tomer, Yael, Vlada, Barak and Moran for your constant support. The biggest thank you must go to Jack Angelides and Mitch Goldhar for giving me an opportunity of a lifetime and for one I am truly grateful for. Mitch’s message of not cutting corners, attention to detail and always giving everything in the pursuit of excellence resonated with me and ultimately made me understand what it is to be Maccabi. I am very proud of winning the title last season in record breaking style. The color Yellow and number 23 and I will forever be etched in my memory and my heart. I wish this amazing Club and Squad all the very best for the future”.

Goldhar: We thank Ben for his devoted service to Maccabi

Maccabi Tel Aviv announced on Thursday that CEO Ben Mansford will be leaving the club at the end of the month after two years in charge. Mitch Goldhar, the club owner, and his representative, Jack Angelidis, made the announcement at a special news conference at Kiryat Shalom. Mansford will be taking up a similar role at English League One side Blackpool FC. 

Maccabi players international endeavours

Israel registered a very comfortable 3-1 win over Latvia in Beersheba on Tuesday in the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign with defensive midfielder Dan Glazer playing a crucial role in helping the hosts to victory. Gazer, who played the full 90 minutes, began the move that culminated in the first goal when he sent a deep through ball into the area that allowed Monas Dabur to score. Eitan Tibi and Yonatan Cohen were also part of the squad but remained on the bench.

The under-21 side also registered a 3-1 win, over the Faroe Islands, as part of their Euro 2021 qualifying drive. Eilon Almog was Maccabi’s representative in the side and played for 76 minutes and his rebounding shot in the eighth minute set up Israel’s opener which was scored by Tai Baribo, who also scored a second goal later on.

Nick Blackman turned out for Barbados and scored a stunning goal to beat the U.S. Virgin Islands in the CONCACAF nations league. Watch his goal here.

Work continues during international break

The international break will conclude after European and other qualifiers are completed on Tuesday and players will return to their respective clubs.

Israel will meet Latvia in Beersheba in Euro 2020 qualifying competition but Maccabi Tel Aviv players not on call-up to represent their respective countries, held a morning training session at the PenguinPickUp facility at Kiryat Shalom.

Maccabi are preparing for the renewal of action and they will play on Monday, Oct. 21 against Ashdod SC in the port city.

As well as keeping themselves ready for action, the players visited colleague Haviv Ohayon, Maccabi’s goalkeeper, who is on loan to Hapoel Hadera. He is recovering at Asaf Harofeh hospital after suffering a recent injury.

Saturday age group team results 12.10

The boys’ A team, Maccabi “Oded” continued its excellent start to the season on Saturday and registered a 5-1 away win over Ironi Nesher. It was a fourth win in five outings for the team since the start of the season. The hosts took the lead in the second minute of the match, but that was their last effort and Maccabi’s boys hit back with Dor Turgeman and Elad Kaplan each scoring twice and Ori Halevy sealing the scoreline.

The B team, Maccabi “Eli Fuchs” won 2-0 against Ashdod SC, a victory that saw them climb to the top of the standings in their division thanks to a superior goal difference ahead of three other teams who also have 16 points. Oscar Gloch and Orel Baya scored in the second half.

The boys’ C team, Maccabi “Eldad,” will be away to Maccabi Haifa on Wednesday at Ketzef.

Weekend action for juniors

The boys’ A team, Maccabi “Oded,” will be away to Ironi Nesher (kickoff 12:30)  and will attempt to continue their good start to the season that includes three wins out of four and they lie third in the standings. Nesher have had a lass auspicious run so far and are 13th in the division with only three points.

The B team, Maccabi “Eli Fuchs,” will be away to Ashdod SC at Ashdod college (kickoff 11:00) and after eight rounds of play, the visitors lie in second place in the standings with 13 points, two behind the leaders. Their opponents are in ninth place in the table with 10 points.

 

Maccabi players on international duty

Domestic league action has taken a break as national teams throughout Europe prepare for Euro qualifying matches, and some of Maccabi’s players have been called to the flag to play for Israel over the next two weeks. 

Dor Peretz, Dan Glazer, Yonatan Cohen and Eitan Tibi have all been drafted into the Israel national team by coach Andy Herzog for two upcoming matches. The first is an away fixture against Austria in Vienna which will be played on Thursday night at 21:45, and the second will be a home clash with Latvia next Tuesday in Beersheba, kickoff also at 21:45.

Nick Blackman has joined the Barbados national side in their nations league fixture which is part of CONCACAF federation action, and two matches against the U.S. Virgin Islands, the first at home and the second away.

Saturday age group team results

The junior A side, Maccabi Tel Aviv “Oded,” continued their winning ways with an excellent 1-0 win over Hapoel Haifa on Saturday, a more modest victory margin after their 7-0 win over Hapoel Ashdod last week. Elad Kaplan’s 15th minute goal gave Maccabi the points and with a total of nine, they are in second place in the standings.

Maccabi Tel Aviv “Eli Fuchs” beat Hapoel Raanana 1-0 and moved into third place in the standings after seven rounds of action with 13 points, with Bar Lin scoring the winner.

The junior C side, Maccabi “Eldad,” hosted Beitar Jerusalem at Kiryat Shalom but ended up on the wrong end of a nine-goal thriller, losing 5-4. Ron Rabinovich, Nadav Shoraki, Liad Barda and Agam Hanoun all scored for the home team but Beitar managed to overhaul the deficit. Maccabi are third in the standings with six points from three games.
