Seating change for the upcoming season

2017/18 season tickets will go on sale June 11th (all the details will be released near the end of the week). The Club has decided to move the away fans to a corner of the pitch and not above the Maccabi fans (sections 101-102, 201-202).  

Due to the change, season ticket holders will be moved:

Sections 101-102 will all be moved.

Section 103: Seats 50-63 in all rows will be moved.

This season ticket holders will be moved to sections 203-204 located closer to the middle of the pitch (See the map below).

We are asking those fans who sit together to prepare themselves in advance in order to facilitate the process of moving locations and renewing their season tickets. In addition, we will also facilitate the move of those season ticket holders who sit together in section 103 as some are seated on the separation points while others are to remain in their places. 

Over the course of the week, ticket representatives will be in contact with all of the season ticket holders in these sections and will help transfer the season ticket seats to a new location (there is no need to call, everyone will be contacted during the week). Season ticket holders from other sections who are interested in moving locations may only do so once the season ticket holders in these sections are taken care of. 

In the case that the Club will build additional sections, additional season tickets will be available for sale. 

Points System to continue

In addition, the new Points System for away matches will continue after its success during the second half of the season. Please note: The points accumulated last season will roll over to this coming campaign.

Maccabi Under-15’s end Tournament with a win

The Maccabi Tel Aviv Under-15’s took part in an exclusive tournament in Austria that came to end on Sunday. The young Yellow & Blue finished the competition in 3rd place after defeating Lokomotiv Moscow in the final match of the tourney.

After recording two victories and one loss, the Under-15’s looked to take 3rd place overall in the tournament. After playing to a goalless draw in regulation time, the match against Moscow went down to penalties and the Yellow & Blue came out on top 7:6 thanks to keeper Ben Musayov’s brilliant save on the Russians final spot kick.

Maccabi began the competition on Friday with a win over Stockholm while Saturday the Yellow & Blue fell to Austria Wien 2:1 but ended the day with a 2:1 win over Ferencvaros Budapest to earn a spot in the 3rd place game. Other clubs that participated in the tournament included Gyori, Rapid Wien and Red Star Belgrade.

Raymond Atteveld, the Club’s Assistant Performance Director spoke to the Official Website following the tournament: “We finished the tournament with a great 3rd place showing after beating Lokomotiv Moscow on penalties. The tournament and this game has been the best learning process for our players to see if our philosophy works also against European teams. It did. But there are many lessons to learn from stronger opposition and better refereeing.”

Atteveld continued on about the experience: “Great facilities and good organisation of the tournament made it a pleasure to participate. The players thoroughly enjoyed it and found out that they have to keep learning and improving. A process we set out from the start of our arrival at Maccabi Tel Aviv. I’m proud of the way the team and staff handled itself and I think we showed everybody here what and who Maccabi Tel Aviv is. We surprised people with our dynamic playing style and will to win. We say in Europe…. We left our business card here!”

Maccabi Under-15’s continue along at Vienna Tournament

After picking up a 2:1 victory over AIK Stockholm on Friday, the young Yellow & Blue had mixed results on day two. The first encounter of today day pitted the Under-15’s against Austria Wien where they came up on the short end of a 2:1 result with Hadar Mor Yosef scoring the lone Maccabi goal. Later on during the day, the Yellow & Blue won their second match of the tournament beating Ferencvaros Budapest on goals by Nehorai Bitton and an injury time strike by Stav Nachmani. The Club currently sits in second place after the group stage and will battle Lokomotiv Moscow for third place overall in the exclusive international competition.

The first match of the day saw the young Yellow & Blue take on Austria Wien. After going down by a goal, Hadar Mor Yosef evened up the contest as the Under-15’s controlled the tempo of the game. However, a questionable penalty was called against Maccabi near the end of the contest and following a long debate with the Austrian referees, Austria Wien scored the spot kick to take the 2:1 victory.

Later on in the day an additional match took place against Ferencvaros Budapest as the Under-15’s controlled the pace of the match, however, a defensive error gave the Hungarians a 1:0 lead. Maccabi continued to attack down the wings as the midfielders joined the effort in search of a tying goal. Ferencvaros purposely slowed the match down with numerous fouls but a goal by Nehorai Bitton drew the young Yellow & Blue even. With momentum on their side, the Under-15’s scored the winning goal in injury time thanks to Stav Nachmani and handed Maccabi a 2:1 win.

The second day of the competition was again a learning experience for the Yellow & Blue and the results earned in the three matches handed them second place in their group which will give them the opportunity to finish the tournament in third place as they will face Lokomotiv Moscow on Sunday.

Maccabi opens up International competition with a win

The exclusive international competition got underway on Friday at the home stadium of Rapid Wien which holds 28k people as the Under-15 led by coaches Ori David and Amir Sofer recorded a 2:1 victory over AIK Stockholm thanks to a brace by Yalli Lazar.

The Under-15’s got off to a fine start as they pressed their Swedish opponents and created a number of good opportunities early on as the young Yellow & Blue played team football and looked to take an early lead. However, despite Maccabi’s quality chances, AIK Stockholm took a 1:0 advantage into the break.

The Yellow & Blue went into the second half looking for an equalizer and played well on the wings giving them a number of opportunities that led to not only the tying goal but the winning marker as well. Yalli Lazar bagged a brace by scoring in the 58th and 60th minutes to help pick up the win. The Club’s philosophy was on full display as the Under-15’s performed well in their first international contest.

Goldhar: “Gal was a true professional who trained and played with all his heart”

Maccabi Tel Aviv FC thanks Gal Alberman for his 7 years of hard work and significant contribution to the Club’s success.

Mitch Goldhar stated: “From his first day at the Club, Gal was a true professional who trained and played with all his heart as well as setting an example for his fellow players. He played a major role in the Club’s achievements over the years and for which I will always be grateful. We part ways with the greatest respect and heartfelt best wishes to his family and himself for the future.”

Gal Alberman arrived at Maccabi during the summer of 2010 after two seasons at German Bundesliga outfit Borussia Mönchengladbach. The midfielder played 7 seasons for Maccabi and was a fixture in the Yellow & Blue lineup helping the club to three straight championships beginning in 2012/13. Number 6 also served as Captain and added a State Cup along with a Toto Cup to his trophy case.

Alberman made 312 appearances for Maccabi Tel Aviv across all competitions while also participating in the 2015/16 Champions League Group Stages as well as the 2013/14 & 2016/17 Europa League. Over the course of his time with the Yellow & Blue, Alberman scored 10 goals while assisting on 7 others.

Maccabi Under-15’s at Vienna Tournament

The Club’s Under-15 teams will be participating in an exclusive tournament in Austria. The young Yellow & Blue will face some of the top clubs in Europe in order to expose the players to the highest level of play for their age group in Vienna. The competition will run for three days between June 2-4, 2017 and the teams will be split up into two groups of four. The top two sides in each group will advance to the finals stage on Sunday June 4th.

The exclusive tournament will be attended by the professional staff along with players who will use this competition as part of the preparation for next season as the young Yellow & Blue will look to return to Israel with quality results and more experience.

Opening the Season: What’s in store for June

The 2017/18 season opens up in June as training camp, season ticket renewals and the first round of Europa League qualifying all get underway. Open up your diaries and let’s begin marking them up:

The Club will open up Training Camp on June 14th and will depart on June 18th for Austria to ratchet up their preparations for their first Europa League qualifying match at the end of the month. The Yellow & Blue will find out who their first opponent will be on June 19th when a draw will be held for the first qualifying round. Will it be Slovenian side Gorica? We will have to wait and see, but Maccabi will be ranked throughout all of the qualifying rounds.

June 29th will mark the Official start to the 2017/18 season when the Yellow & Blue will kick off their Europa League campaign in the first leg of the first round of qualification matches. Last season Maccabi picked up a 3:0 win over Gorica. Hopefully, this season will begin on the right foot as well.

“I don’t believe it!” Maccabi Room Making a Dream Come True

We received tons of pictures from Maccabi FIRST Members who wanted their room redecorated in Yellow & Blue. At the end of the day, 12.5 year old Ori Zahavi was chosen to have his room totally redecorated to become this season’s “Maccabi Room”.

Last season Avi Rikan and Shlomi Azulay helped set up Eilai’s new room. This season Eitan Tibi and Yuval Shpungin were the redecorators who helped paint the Maccabi Room Yellow & Blue and who picked up the Official Club products from the special unique picture to the bedding. Take a Number: Summing up the Season

Maccabi played a total of 62 matches across all competitions (League, Europa League, State Cup, Toto Cup)

The Yellow & Blue’s record: 38 wins, 14 losses and 10 draws

Goal differential: 102 goals scored (1.64 per match), 52 goals against (0.83).

Vidar Kjartansson finished the season as Maccabi’s leading goal scorer with 24 across all competitions. The Icelandic striker led the league with 19 goals this campaign.

This is the 5th season in a row that a Maccabi player has won the league scoring title (Eliran Atar, Eran Zahavi – 3 seasons in a row) – the most of any club in the league.

16 Yellow & Blue players found the back of the goal during the campaign.

Dor Micha ended the season as the league’s assist king with 12. This is the 4th season in a row that he has led Maccabi in this category – new club record.

20 Yellow & Blue players assisted on goals including keeper Predrag Rajikovic who had one as well (State Cup match against Lod).

Most goals in one match: Vidar Kjartansson- hat trick against Kiryat Shemona.

Most appearances: Predrag Rajikovic – 57 matches. Second place: Dor Micha 54 appearances.

Rajikovic also recorded the most minutes (5,220). Eitan Tibi was next (4,265) and central defender Tal Ben Haim was third (4,237).

Longest home winning streak: 12. Beginning with the home victory over Dundalk in the Europa League all the way to the win against Maccabi Petah Tikva in the Championship Playoffs at the Netanya Stadium. This is the longest home winning streak since the 1950’s!

Maccabi was issued only one red card – Winger Tal Ben Chaim against Hapoel Kfar Saba. This was the least since the 1992/93 campaign.

A few stats about you, the fans:
This probably won’t shock you but the city with the most season ticket holders is Tel Aviv with 1,456.

Rishon Le’Zion finds itself in second place with 779 season tickets while Holon is in third with 581.

Even though Ashkelon is quite some distance, 99 residents of the city are season ticket holders, Dimona sports 54 and Beer Sheva has 41.

If we look even further south you’ll find that 13 season ticket holders live in Eilat.

If we look up north there are plenty more Maccabi fans who make their way south to the matches in Netanya. Three are in Kiryat Shemona, 8 live in Safed, Shlomi has 6 while Rosh Pina has one. However, Afula is the northern city with the most season ticket holders with 32.

Legends Club: Meir Nimni

Maccabi Tel Aviv featured some terrific defensive midfielders that were at the top of Israeli football. One of them was no doubt Meir Nimni who joined the Yellow & Blue in 1968/69 at the age of 21 from Beitar Ramle and made his debut against Beitar Jerusalem that same campaign.

Nimni became a rock in the middle of the Maccabi Tel Aviv midfield and earned a spot in the Starting XI becoming one of the fan favorites. He scored his first goal in a 3:0 win over Hapoel Jerusalem and found the back of the goal once again on the final Matchday of the season against Shimshon Tel Aviv. Nimni also took part in one of the Club’s most historical moments when they captured the Asia Cup as he played in all of the matches including the 1:0 win over Yangzee FC from South Korea.

In his second season, Nimni continued to collect titles and took home the Double while appearing in 27 contests including the 5:0 Derby win over Hapoel Tel Aviv in 1970.

Nimni was known as a versatile player who was able to adapt himself to any role that he needed to play on the pitch while doing so with a considerable amount of talent. Over the course of 13 season with Maccabi Tel Aviv, Nimni scored 27 goals, won four league titles, captured two Asia Cups as well as two State Cups.

Outstanding Match:
One of the most amazing matches that Meir Nimni took part of was undoubtedly the 1970 Derby when Maccabi Tel Aviv defeated Hapoel Tel Aviv 5:0. Nimni was a very important member of the squad and was in the Starting XI for this historic contest – January 1, 1970.
