Mofi Danziger Foundation Scholarship Ceremony
The Michael “Mopi” Danziger Foundation Scholarship ceremony took place this morning at the Maccabi Tel Aviv Kiryat Shalom Training Center. The annual ceremony was attended by Sport Director Jordi Cruyff, Performance Director Patrick van Leeuwen as well as Gal Alberman who presented the scholarship awards.
The foundation is named after Supreme Court judge Yoram Danziger’s father and provides outstanding handicapped athletes and players from the Maccabi youth department with scholarships to help them continue to develop their skills. This year 5 athletes from the Ilan Foundation were awarded scholarships including: Hamze Kasam (swimmer 11yrs old), Michaela Yosopov (table tennis 15yrs old), Arthur Hasson (basketball 14yrs old), Rom Levi (swimmer 13yrs old) and Guy Vaknin (tennis 18yrs old) along with five players from the Maccabi Tel Aviv Youth Department: Daniel Peretz (Under-17), Itai Rada (Under-15), Alon Abdi (Under-13), Amit Shadadi (Under-12) and Amit Kardi (Under-11).
Just before the scholarship presentation, Yoram Danziger said: “It’s exciting to have the Ilan athletes and Maccabi Tel Aviv players here together at this event. The understanding of Ilan’s handicapped athletes will help all players in the future. What brings these children together whether they are handicapped or not is the fight and the battle that they give on a day to day basis. The attempt to fight the pain and overcome the challenges that they have pushes them to continue to excel and prove themselves.”
Jordi Cruyff also spoke at the ceremony and said: “Moments like this also touch me on a personal level. My father started a foundation of his own and said that if you are in a position where you can help others you are obligated to do so. It’s always important to give others the chance to succeed who normally wouldn’t have these opportunities. Just as I learned from my father, I can say that I’m proud to be here today.”

The Under-16 side will head to Jerusalem sporting 7 straight wins in which they have scored 31 goals as Alon Brumer’s team are three points out of second place and six points out of first. With two Matchdays remaining in the season, Maccabi “Eli Fuchs” still have a theoretical chance of winning the championship.

Ori David’s side will head south for an away match at Beer Sheva on the last Matchday of their Under-15 season as the young Yellow & Blue will look to end the campaign on a high note and a win.

Peretz: “We are working hard in order to get a chance to play”
The Yellow & Blue midfielder, Eliel Peretz addressed the media at the pre-match press conference for the upcoming Championship Playoffs encounter on Sunday at 20:15 against Maccabi Petah Tikva: Number 45 talked about his teammates, plans for next season and taking advantage of the chance that he has been given to play:
“We work hard at training and we wait for our chance to perform on the pitch, it’s as simple as that. When you don’t play it’s always disappointing as you always want to be in the picture. Of course I was upset that I didn’t play earlier in the year but that is part of football. Even the Marcelo arrived I continued to work hard.”
Plans for next season:
“I haven’t looked ahead and I am working as hard as I can for the opportunity to play.”
About his teammates:
“Everyone helps out and supports one another. We are always together as a team.”
Vidigal: “Everyone has to take advantage of their opportunities”
Lito Vidigal, the Maccabi Tel Aviv Head Coach is preparing his squad for a Matchday 35 encounter with Maccabi Petah Tikva at the Moshava Stadium in Petah Tikva on Sunday at 20:15. The Angolan boss spoke about who will play and how he makes the choices for his Starting XI:
“We always have to make choices. Sometimes it’s the yellow cards and sometimes it’s injuries. It also may be the moment for a certain player and we have to make the best choices for the game as the next match is always most important.”
Chances of Daniel Lifshitz starting in goal against Petah Tikva:
“We will see. We have more trainings to do and then we will make a decision. The most important thing is the upcoming game and if he has a chance to play I hope he plays well.”
About Avi Rikan and other players who will have a chance to play:
“Sometimes I make changes and there are moments that I need to make a certain change because I don’t have all of the players to choose from. I believe in all of the players that are here and they are all professionals who will give everything that they have. They know that they are in a big team and they have to take advantage of the chances that they have. All the games that are left are very important and we want to win all of the games.”
Players who are out of contract at the end of the season:
“The players gave everything and they played hard. Like I told you last week, the season is not over yet. Only at the end of the season will we look at where we stand for next campaign. We have to play well and win the remaining games. We have to stay focussed until the end of the season.”
Deciding who will play and taking advantage of the opportunity:
“All of the players have a chance to play and we choose the best ones for that moment. When we choose them we hope that they will do what Avi Rikan did against Haifa and take advantage of the opportunity.”
Upcoming training camp:
“The training camp is already organized and we have a number of plans.”

“I talk to Eliel and all of the players. I hope that he will one day be the next captain of Maccabi. He has many good qualities. He has played well every time he has had the opportunity.”

Beach Day: Special Training Session in Herzliya
Maccabi Tel Aviv will face Maccabi Petah Tikva on Sunday in the Ligat Ha’Al Championship Playoffs and came back to training today at the Herzliya Beach. Lito Vidigal’s players had a unique training session while enjoying the water and sun. Check out the photos below:
Under-14 Club wins State Cup
A fine performance by the Under-14 squad helped them win the State Cup after defeating Hapoel “Shlomo” Kfar Saba 3:0 at the Ramat Gan Stadium. Head Coach Alon Peleg’s side won the 70 minute contest convincingly. The young Yellow & Blue took a big step towards capturing the Cup in the first half when they received goals via Omer Rosio and Omer Senior. Aviv Pelles sealed the deal with a second half strike to close out the 3:0 victory.
Peleg spoke about the win following the match: “The team sacrificed it all in this match and they fought very hard to win. The kids took advantage of the opportunities that they had. A huge amount of credit goes to Arik Levy, the professional director of the department in the north. I’m very happy for the club as they took a long path to get to where they are today.”
