Tuesday May 24th will be a big day for every Maccabi Tel Aviv fan as the club will look to win back-to-back Israel State Cups. Peter Bosz’s Yellow & Blue crew will look to defend the title they won last season against Maccabi Haifa. The special shuttles will take you right to the Stadium’s front door and will bypass the police roadblocks in the vicinity of the facility. Israel Railways

Israel Railways will also provide the fans with an easy and comfortable way to make it to the match by providing two trains that will leave Tel Aviv Savidor to Malha, Jerusalem at 17:41 and 18:41. Following the match the train will return to Tel Aviv and will also stop at the Hagana Train Station.

Ticket sales are based on availability and is limited to 1,000 passengers.

Fans that are interested in a round trip train ticket are asked to purchase them at the train ticket windows at the Savidor Station only. There will be a 20% discount on the round trip tickets to the match.

Barak Itzhaki, Maccabi Tel Aviv’s number 10 looked ahead to the final Matchday of the season on Saturday evening when his club may capture their fourth straight league title in a row. The veteran striker discussed the chances of winning the championship, the State Cup final, the year that was and his feelings as Maccabi heads into the stretch run:

“We always feel good when you get to these moments of the season which was a long year. We have a chance to win two titles and we feel good. We will go into the games and do what we need to.”

The matches played over the last month:

“We played well but didn’t win like the coach said, except for the Beer Sheva game where we didn’t press well we had plenty of chances and just couldn’t score. We have to look at the good things and improve on what we have to do in the upcoming matches.”

Excitement heading into the last couple of matches:

“Of course that’s what is special about the end of the year. There is drama and you can see that Beitar Jeruslem played like sportsmen against us. If you look back a number of years Ran Kadosh was the Bnei Yehuda keeper and he took the bull by the horns to help his team in money time,M hopefully that will happen again.”

About the season itself:

“We had a great season as we were in the Champions League and here we are fighting for the championship on the last Matchday. We also have a chance to win the State Cup. This year was an excellent campaign for us.”

Leaving Bloomfield for the foreseeable future:

“I hope that my last memories of Bloomfield will be good. It’s a stadium that has created many moments in Israeli football over the years and it’s a special place for any footballer.”

Concerning the League match against Haifa:

“Maccabi Haifa is a good team and you can see how they played against Beer Sheva where they won in the last minute. Our goal is to win the game on Saturday night and then see what happened in Beer Sheva.”

Preparations for the game:

“We are preparing for this match exactly like how we would prepare for any other match. Of course there is a lot of talk surrounding the match because it’s for the championship.”

On his upcoming wedding:

“I’m taking everything day to day before my wedding. Right now it’s the league, then the Cup and I hope we will all come very happy to my big day.”

Wrapping up the campaign:

“Maccabi Tel Aviv always strives to be at the top. We made it into the Champions League, we had the league and then the Cup. Of course we would be disappointed not win a title this year.”

Peter Bosz, the Yellow & Blue Dutch Coach spoke to the assembled media prior to his side’s Matchday 36 Championship Playoff clash against Maccabi Haifa at Bloomfield Stadium on Saturday night, 21:00. Should Maccabi win coupled with a Hapoel Beer Sheva loss or draw against Bnei Sakhnin at Turner Stadium then the League title would return to Kiryat Shalom for a fourth year in a row. Bosz looked back at the past couple of months, the play of the team and how it feels going into the last match of the season with the possibility of taking the title:

“Of course it effects us that this is the last match of the year, it’s an important game and it’s the last game of the season. I get my players focussed on our game only and we will see what Beer Sheva does only after our match ends.”

Sakhnin wanting to play to win against Beer Sheva:

“I don’t know. I can only think as a sportsman and I was a player for a long time. You always want to win and Sakhnin will be in a sold out stadium with a chance to show what they can do. As a sportsman, I wouldn’t want them celebrating against me. I can only work with our players and then focus on our game.”

The opportunity to win titles:

“I think in ones football career it’s all about winning. There are players like Barak (Itzhaki) who have been in the club longer than me and I know that the big players keep hungry and they want to win more and more prizes. We have big players. We have to win the game against Maccabi Haifa Saturday but the championship is not in our hands. The second game is in our hands and we have to show everyone that we have the right mentality to win the Cup.”

Winning last match coupled with Beer Sheva losing:

“Last week was something special. I wasn’t happy with the first half but we scored some goals in the second half and when we heard that Haifa scored against Beer Sheva it was fantastic. We weren’t counting on them losing, but it now gives us a chance. Their players have been in a hotel for 3 days now.”

About the preparations for the match:

“The preparations are the same as in any other game and we have our usual training sessions beforehand.”

Mistakes over the last month:

“Our biggest mistake was that we didn’t win and didn’t score. We had chances in all of the games but we couldn’t score especially against Beer Sheva. Football at the end of the day is about scoring goals, that was our biggest mistake.”

The 2015/16 season is coming to a close with the final chapter to be written on May 24th when Maccabi Tel Aviv faces Maccabi Haifa at the State Cup Final in Jerusalem. This evening, the Club held its annual Gala where the “Maccabi Tel Aviv Football Club Foundation” was launched and funds were raised for UNICEF Israel as well. The Season Awards Winners were also announced at this exclusive event attended by over 500 people.

The committee who voted for the various awards was comprised of former Club Chairman Gideon Brickman, Club Manager Benny Tabak along with a pair of ex-players Eli Drikes and Boni Ginzburg.

To open the evening the first award was the Youth Player Goal of the Season sponsored by Profit and was handed out by the company’s CEO Shlomi Alberg and former player Moshe Schweitzer.

The nominees for the category were: Gaby Kanichowsky, Haviv Ohayon, Eden Kartzev, Eliel Peretz and Thomas Prince. Ohayon’s 90th minute header against Beitar Jerusalem was selected as the Youth Goal of the Season.

The next category was the Future Star which was awarded to Oliel Peretz. The award was given by former Club Manager Moshe Israel and sponsored by Ms. Yam Yagudaev the owner of a wedding dress and haute couture boutique along with ex-player Haim Levin.

The Goal of the Season was sponsored by Florentin House and owner Yishai Mor awarded the prize along with ex-player Vicki Peretz to Eran Zahavi for his tying goal in the 2:2 draw at Basel in the Champions League qualification match.

The other nominees in this category were: Barak Itzhaki’s goal in the 1:2 match against Viktoria Plzen, Tal Ben Chaim’s winner versus Maccabi Haifa, Nosa Igiebor’s goal in the victory against Maccabi Petach Tikva and Gal Alberman’s tying goal against Kiryat Shemona.

The Player of the Season now took center stage as the nominees included: Eli Dasa, Gal Alberman, Eran Zahavi, Tal Ben Chaim, Dor Micha. The committee awarded the prize to the Captain who also broke the single season goal scoring record, Eran Zahavi.

The award was sponsored and given by Amos Gabay, HP Israel Director who is also the Club’s lead sponsor along with former player Dror Bar Nur.

 

 

 

Maccabi Tel Aviv continues its long standing policy of not charging for physically challenged fans and their chaperones and will provide these tickets free of charge.

For matches between Hapoel Tel Aviv, Maccabi Haifa, Beitar Jerusalem, Hapoel Beer Sheva, European matches and matches that will decide the championship you must register in advance by sending an email to support@leaan.co.il with a scanned copy of your disability certificate. Priority will be given to the physically challenged fans who have been attending Maccabi Tel Aviv matches in the past, however when registration opens a week before the match, you still must submit a request.
