VAN DEN BERG APPOINTED YOUTH TEAM COACH

Peter Van den Berg (49) was appointed as Maccabi Tel Aviv 'Schahar' U-19's coach after the appointment of the former first team assistant coach was confirmed today (Saturday).

Peter Van den Berg who joined the club in the summer as first team assistant coach was appointed today (Saturday) as the U-19’s coach of Maccabi Tel Aviv ‘Schahar’.

Youth Academy Director, Claudio Braga, told the Club’s official website: “Peter brings with him a lot of experience and knowledge he gained during his playing and coaching career abroad. Since joining  Maccabi, Peter showed us he is someone who has the capabilities to bind people from various departments at the club as well as the communication skills which are specifically required for both team and individual development of players at this age group. We are convinced that Peter can help take the players to the next level of their careers and wish him all the best of luck”.

Van den Berg added: “I am grateful for the trust Maccabi has shown in me to guide the next generation of potential players for the first team. I can’t wait to start working with the U-19’s as of tomorrow and would like to use the opportunity to wish everyone in the first team all the best of success for the future”.

Gloukh, Sasson and Revivo made their senior debut

Maccabi's youth team players - Oscar Gloukh, Ofek Sasson and Roy Revivo made their senior debut appearances during the Toto Cup match against Hapoel Jerusalem at Bloomfield stadium

The Under 19’s season got underway at the weekend as Maccabi Tel Aviv ‘Shahar’ beat Hapoel Kfar Sava in the opening league match. Last night, four members of the U-19’s team were part of the first team squad for the Toto Cup match against Hapoel Jerusalem which took place at Bloomfield. Three of the four – Oscar Gloukh (17), Ofek Sasson (17), Roy Revivo (18) made substitute appearances while Bar Lin was an unused sub.

Glough was introduced in the 61st minute of the match, Sasson (70) and Revivo (79) were all given a chance to play on the big stage.
Gloukh could have celebrated his senior debut in style as he took a vital penalty, but the 17-year-old had his spot kick saved by Jerusalem’s keeper, a fact which would leave him with a bitter sweet experience.

Carlos Riviera joins Maccabi’s Youth team

The 18-year-old Panamanian forward joins Maccabi Tel Aviv on loan with an option to make the move permanent

Carlos Alberto Rivera Lucero, an 18-year-old Panamanian forward will join Maccabi Tel Aviv’s U-19’s on a season-long loan-deal with an option to make the move permanent, after an agreement was reached with his club San Francisco FC.

Rivera, who is a member of Panama’s U-21’s national side, impressed the club’s Youth Academy staff during a trial period, and will join the squad of Maccabi Tel Aviv ‘Shahar’.

Guy Zuckerman, Maccabi’s Youth Department director, told the club’s official website: “Carlos is a talented forward who left a very good impression during the trials he had at the Youth Academy in recent weeks. We all believe that Carlos can develop during his time with the academy and contribute a lot to the club”.

Ilay Tomer signed contract extension at Maccabi

The 17-year-old  defender signed  new contract extension and secured his future at the club

Ilay Tomer, the 17-year-old right-back of Maccabi Tel Aviv ‘Shahar’ signed this morning a contract extension at the club. Tomer, who last season made 23 appearances in all competitions for Maccabi’s U-19’s, made 3 international appearances for Israel’s U-16’s.

Maccabi’s Youth Academy Director, Guy Zuckerman, told the club’s official; website: “Ilay is a talented young player who has been playing at Maccabi since the age of 11 and played for all the department’s teams. We believe that Ilay has great potential to make progress at the club in the future”.

Claudio Braga appointed as Academy Director

The 46-year-old Portuguese has been appointed as Maccabi Tel Aviv Youth Academy Director. Braga: "I Have a very strong ambition and great motivation to continue the vision of the Academy".

Maccabi Tel Aviv FC is happy to announce the appointment of Claudio Braga as Youth Academy Director. 

Braga, (46) who spent the majority of his coaching career in Holland and Portugal has been working last season as the Technical Manager at United Arab Emirates side Al Wahda FC.

Braga, who will join Maccabi’s U-19 team at their pre-season training camp in Bulgaria, told the club’s official website: “I am delighted to be joining the biggest and best club in Israel, a club with such a rich history. I Have a very strong ambition and great motivation to continue the vision of the Academy – to help develop our young talents all the way into first team. I can’t wait to begin my new job and I really feel proud to be joining the Maccabi family”.

Barak Itzhaki, Maccabi’s Head of the Football Department, added: “We are delighted to welcome Claudio to Maccabi as our Youth Academy director. Claudio has been responsible for the development of young players at major European academies for the last decade. Maccabi’s Youth Academy aspires to continue producing the next generation of players for the club and Israeli football. We are confident that the experience he gained managing academies and coaching both in Holland and Portugal will benefit the important process of developing players and professional staff at Maccabi’s academy.”

Braga, began his coaching career at the Youth Academies of leading Dutch clubs such as Excelsior (1998-01), Sparta Rotterdam (2001-04), Feyenoord (2004-06), PSV Eindhoven (2010-13) and Utrecht (2013-14).

During the 2009/10 season, Braga, was appointed as Assistant coach at Vitoria Setubal of the Portuguese top flight and after several years in Holland returned to his native country in 2014/15 as the coach of second division side Santa Clara. An appointment as VV Nieuwerkerk’s Academy Director and first team coach took Braga back to Holland in 2015 before he joining Fortuna Sittard two years later and guiding them to promotion to the top Dutch division.

In 2018/19 Braga returned to Portugal once again as the coach of first division side Maritimo before leaving to Holland for the same role at second division side FC Dordrecht. United Arab Emirates became the third country Braga had worked at taking on the role as Technical Manager at Al Wahda FC in 2020.

Maccabi ‘Shahar’ will face Maccabi Petah Tikva in the Youth Semi Final

Following last week's 3-2 victory over Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Quarter Finals, Maccabi Tel Aviv's U-19's will face Maccabi Petah Tikva in the Youth Cup Semi Finals.

Petah Tikva’s stadium will host both Semi Finals on Saturday June 12th at 20:30 while Hapoel Ramat Hasharon and Ashdod face each other at the earlier Semi Final (18:00).

The final is set to take place at Petah Tikva stadium four days later on June 16th

Omer Fruchtman joins Maccabio Tel Aviv ‘Shahar’

The 17-year-old striker signed a contract and will join Maccabi Tel Aviv's Youth Academy

The 2020/21 season at Youth levels is reaching it’s final stages as the preparations of the Youth Academy are well underway. Omer Fruchtman, a 17-year-old striker, who was part of the Israel young national teams, signed at the weekend.

Fruchtman, will now join the Youth Academy as part of Maccabi Tel Aviv ‘Shahar’ U-19’s side.

Under 10’s win Passover tournament

The Under 10's from Maccabi's Northern branch, won this morning (Monday) the Passover tournament after beating two opponents from the same age group from Maccabi Haifa. Maccabi South finished 3rd

The Passover tournament was staged this morning (Monday) at the North pitch of the Youth Academy at the University compound.

The tournament was held for the 2011 age groups as Maccabi and Macccabi Haifa sent two teams each. The tournament was won by the Maccabi North team that lifted the Cup while the Maccabi South that is based at Kiryat Shalom finished in 3rd place.

At the preliminary round both of Maccabi’s team played against the two Haifa sides wit the the winner of each match advancing to the final while the losing teams competed for 3rd spot.

The Maccabi side that is based at the University compound beat their Haifa counterparts in the first game as well as the second Haifa team in the final to win the four-team Passover tournament.
Maccabi South which is based at the Avi Cohen training complex in Kiryat Shalom, were beaten in the first match but managed to finish 3rd after winning their second encounter against the Haifaites.

The University compound will stage another tournament on Thursday, this time for the 2008 age group where Maccabi North & South will play against Hapoel Ramat Gan and Beitar Tubruk.

Or Roizman’s hat-trick (44, 51, 60) led Maccabi’s U-19’s to a 3-1 victory over Maccabi Netanya

Maccabi ‘Shahar’ stretched their run to four successive league victories following a 3-1 win over Maccabi Netanya at Nes Ziona. The victory keeps Eliezer Ben Aharon’s side in second place with 25 points, neck and neck with the leaders that have a game in hand.

After several missed chances, Maccabi took the lead a minute before the interval at the end of a team effort and a counter attack that began deep in defence. At the end of the move, Rotem Yatzakar’s through ball found Roizman who sent a delicate chip that bounced in off the underside of the crossbar.
With a 1-0 lead at halftime, Yatzkar and Roizman were at the centre of this five minutes after the restart as Novatus Miroshi won a challenge near the halfway line before Yatzkar sent it to Yalli Lazar whose cross was volleyed home by Roizman to double the lead.
Netanya cut the deficit two minutes later as Eyal Abadi beat Tomer Alon with a spectacular shot from the edge of the area.
But right on the hour mark Roizman completed his hat-trick with Lazar once again providing the cross that was headed in to seal the victory.

We are back: The Youth Academy resumed training

After almost two months, the Youth Academy resumed training yesterday (Sunday). All the Academy teams will resume training during the week as the league matches are set to return in March

The Youth Academy resumed their activity yesterday (Sunday) after an almost two months break. Until training was resumed, the players worked from home on a regular basis according to a detailed schedule they received from the coaching staff, with the aim of preparing the players in an ultimate way for the return to training and league action.

The training sessions which took place yesterday were structured taking into consideration of the long break the players experienced an accordance of the training regime they had at home. As of now, the league matches are set to resume during March.
