Despite Sunday's sensational 5-0 victory, the Maccabi Tel Aviv squad only have eyes for next Saturday's play-off opener against Hapoel Ramat Hasharon. Midfielder Eran Zahavi, who opened the scoring against Beitar: "We'll carry on doing our job without any fuss."

This coming Saturday Maccabi Tel Aviv will already be embroiled in their first match of the play-offs, a home tie against Hapoel Ramat Hasharon (7.30 P.M.). So when the squad gathered yesterday for their day-after practice at Kiryat Shalom training ground, despite the momentous 5-0 thrashing of Beitar Jerusalem the night before, everything said business as usual.

After the match head coach Oscar Garcia had this to say about the spectacular turnaround in Maccabi's fortunes against their Jerusalem rivals: "It wasn't an easy game for us, even if we did take control of the match from the very beginning. Losing to Beitar in the Cup last week helped us approach this game more positively, they were the only club we hadn't beaten all season so that's a great piece of motivation."

Midfielder Eran Zahavi, who scored his first league goal early in the match, had this to say at the end: "It was a frenzy out there, we were all working hard for one another, we were running like the team depended on it and you see the result. Will the ten point advantage at the top be enough to see us through to the championship? It ought to be. So long as we keep working the way we should and don't get complacent about our lead it's a fine head start for the play-offs. But we have to take each match as it comes and the further we get ahead the better off we'll be. That's what we have to do, carry on without a fuss."

Defender Yoav Ziv summed up the match: "In the second half, we just exploded on the pitch, we were creating chances everywhere and converted most of them too. I'm sure our fans enjoyed the match every bit as much as we did."
