Maccabi’s Room- Redecorators Rikan & Azulay

After the Official website received tons of pictures from Maccabi FIRST members who wanted to have their rooms redecorated Yellow-and-Blue, we chose 9-year old Eilai Damri to be the lucky winner.

Maccabi’s room: כשאזולאי וריקן עשו את המהפך

Avi Rikan and Shlomi Azulay were responsible for Eilai’s room make over and redecoration as they went to pick up all of the Official Club merchandise right after practice to bring over to his home. Products included were a special picture, Maccabi linens, slippers and even a night table lamp. How does it look now? Don’t miss Eilai’s reaction as soon as he saw his brand new room!

Maccabi Players meet UNICEF Children

Maccabi Tel Aviv returned to training today at Kiryat Shalom as they prepared for the upcoming Winner League Matchday Eleven. Just prior to beginning the practice session, the club hosted 35 UNICEF children at Maccabi’s training facility. The students, some of which came from a mixed Jewish & Arab school in Lod presented the “Convention on the Rights of the Child”.

The 14 year-olds who were present at the event are part of the close relationship between Maccabi Tel Aviv and UNICEF that began last season and has continued into the current year. The Maccabi Tel Aviv players distributed gifts to the children from the club and Winner.

After meeting the first team players, the children got together with Maccabi Tel Aviv’s Under-14 team and discussed the “Convention on the Rights of the Child” where they learnt about children’s rights and more.

Smile! You’re Yellow-and-Blue

The International break is a perfect time for some rest and relaxation but also a great time for the fans to meet some of their favorite players. Last night the Official Team Store in Cinema City, Rishon Le’Zion welcomed long lines of fans for the chance to meet two Maccabi Tel Aviv stars, Dor Micha and Gili Vermouth.

Yellow-and-Blue supporters big and small all came to welcome the two for picture magnets, selfies and autographs on jerseys, balls and other great Maccabi merchandise. Check out some of the great pictures right now and videos on Sunday’s “The Lockerroom” episode.

Nir Levin speaks to Movilim IDF officers

The Maccabi Tel Aviv Football Club continues to strengthen its relationship with the larger community in various arenas. The Youth Department Director, Nir Levin spoke to “Movilim” an enrichment training program in which ten IDF officers learn advanced management techniques and concepts.

The officers first visited the Kiryat Shalom Training Facility where they were welcomed by Levin and given a short tour which was followed by his lecture. Following the meeting, Levin spoke about the encounter: “The group was in touch with our community relations department and we set up a time for them to visit us at Kiryat Shalom where I would speak to them about the organizational structure of the club and specifically about the youth department.”

Levin continued to explain the content of the lecture: “They were interested in our training program for players and coaches. The presentation and lecture was prepared especially for their group and their needs. I explained to them that on a day to day basis we work on empowering coaches and players, their management skills and motivation.” Levin summed up the positive experience saying: “It was an excellent get together. The program was originally designed to be two hours, but because of the interest and the ensuing discussions we met for three. All in all it was an excellent and enjoyable meeting.”

Maccabi joins Team UNICEF

Maccabi Tel Aviv join major European Clubs in a co-operation with UNICEF

National Champions Maccabi Tel Aviv join the ranks of European giants such as Barcelona and Manchester United in a co-operation with UNICEF.

Together with UNICEF ISRAEL all activities and fundraising of the partnership will be to the benefit of children in Israel and will allow the club to be part of one of the world’s leading charitable organizations joining some of Europe’s elite sporting icons and institutions.

The deal will see Maccabi players playing with the logo on their shirt between now and the end of the season to mark the start of an initiative to promote the rights of children and will involve Maccabi players visiting schools throughout the country as role models representing the aims of the partnership.

We are very excited to be able to welcome to our team a football club as respected as Maccabi Tel Aviv”, commented Jonny Cline, Executive Director of UNICEF Israel, “we are pleased that Maccabi also recognizes that every child has the right to equal opportunities, and that every child has the right to a childhood free of discrimination, racism or violence.”

Martin Bain, Chief Executive of Maccabi Tel Aviv said, “Everyone connected with Maccabi works extremely hard to use our privileged position for the betterment of others and to help make a difference where we can. Our vision is to be a national model of accomplishment in all our endeavours whether it is sports, social or cultural and to join UNICEF and its elite chosen few is a great honour and representative of our ambition.”

Club Captain Sheran Yeini said,” The whole squad are excited by the UNICEF partnership and to know the club are joining some of the world’s elite clubs and sports personalities in doing good for others is really special.  To have the opportunity to participate with them in various charitable campaigns that will benefit the children of Israel can only be exciting for our squad and beneficial for everyone involved.”

UNICEF is active all around the world for the security, welfare, education and all rights of all children. The fund operates development and aid programs including nutrition programs, psychosocial care, immunization operations and much more, in some of the most harsh and dangerous regions of the world. UNICEF has been actively present in Israel since the State was declared in 1948 when the fledgling state received aid from UNICEF in areas such as nutrition and pediatric health.

The fund collaborates with a number of leading sports clubs around the world. In addition to Barcelona and Man Utd, teams such as the Greek Olympiakos, both teams from the City of Milan, Argentinian Boca Juniors currently and in the past.

MTAFC CEO Martin Bain himself led a collaboration with UNICEF during his term as CEO of Glasgow Rangers in Scotland as did his national counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.  World number one tennis player Novak Djockovitch is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, as is racing driver Lewis Hamilton, and ex-football players David Beckham and Ryan Giggs. New Zealand’s national rugby team, the All Blacks, also sponsors the Fund.

The relationship with each sports club has a character and scale of its own. Barcelona, for example, raises an annual donation of 1.5m Euro for UNICEF, and until recently played with the UNICEF logo on the front of their shirts. Last January the club collaborated with UNICEF on a massive campaign to provide education for kids in central Asia. The campaign, entitled “1 in 11”, starred Leo Messi alongside tennis player Serena Williams and other famous artists.

In contrast, Manchester United play without the UNICEF logo, although the club is involved in many UNICEF projects. The Red Devils raise funds for UNICEF, and participate in many activities worldwide. Past stars of the English team – Beckham, Giggs, and even Sir Alex Ferguson – are outstanding UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors.

“90 MINUTES FOR HOPE”

It is a great pity that so many millions of people have recently been displaced from their homes as a result of violent extremists in war torn areas in various parts of the world.

As a member of the European Club Association and our standing as a member of the European soccer community we will join all of the other clubs involved in European competition by participating in the initiative “90 minutes for hope”.

It is consistent with the club’s social responsibility programme which covers both local and national issues in Israel and the priorities of our international sponsor UNICEF with whom we are a proud partner.

Maccabi Tel Aviv supports KidStarter

Maccabi Tel Aviv continues to strengthen its ties with the community by supporting various organizations and institutions. The club will be partnering with "Educating for Excellence" a non-profit organization that serves over 2,000 children. "Educating for Excellence" reduces social gaps and creates equal opportunities for children with potential for excellence who reside within Israel’s social and geographic periphery, believing that one day they will be able to help all of us.

The relationship between Maccabi and "Educating for Excellence" is an all encompassing one where both the first team and youth squad players will participate in programs with the children served by the organization. Maccabi will also be lending a hand in starting a special investment fund – KidStarter that will give the greater community

s

the opportunity to invest in the advancement of a child.

Maccabi has given some terrific items to "Educating for Excellence" for those who invest in this project, including Championship scarves, Treble T-Shirts, hats and Maccabi Tel Aviv footballs. We encourage all of you to support these youngsters and also enjoy some great Yellow-and-Blue products!
