This tall striker from Poland arrived at Maccabi Tel Aviv in the 1998/99 season and wasted no time in proving himself to be one of the outstanding foreign footballers ever to play on Israeli soil. In his very first appearance in a yellow jersey Andrzej Kubica already entered the history books by scoring a brace in Maccabi's thrashing of Ironi Rishon Lezion 6-0 in the Toto (league) Cup. A week later he scored his first league goal in Maccabi Tel Aviv's first round 3-3 draw with Ironi Ashdod. Throughout that entire first season Andrzej Kubica continued the impressive pace of his goal-scoring ability, 25 goals in all competitions (including a hat-trick in Maccabi's league match against Hapoel Kfar Saba), with his 21 league goals making him the league's leading goal scorer, an absolute milestone for a foreign footballer in Israel.
The following season 1999/2000 his numbers dropped somewhat but his overall contribution to the club remained significant. He scored crucial goals, eight in all, including one that helped Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Derby to defeat their city rival Hapoel Tel Aviv, who would go on to win the double that season. They also included three goals in the UEFA Cup and one in the National Cup.
At the end of the 1999/2000 season Andrzej Kubica went on to play three years in the Japanee leagues, but returned in the 2003/04 season for his second term at Maccabi Tel Aviv. He finished the season with seven goals in all competitions, four in the league, two in the National Cup and one in the Toto (league) Cup. In all, he scored 44 goals in 100 appearances in all competitions with the club. This strong forward, with an excellent sense of positioning in the area, will be remembered as one of the best foreign strikers to have ever played for Maccabi Tel Aviv.
