The Maccabi Tel Aviv central defender talked about having played well in the match but just couldn’t find the winner as the club picked up a point

The Yellow-and-Blue ended the first round of Winner League matches on Matchday 13 with a goalless draw against Kfar Saba at Levita Stadium on a cold December evening. Maccabi central defender Carlos Garcia spoke about the club’s performance, Beer Sheva and the upcoming Champions League finale in Kiev:

“I think our game plan worked and we had a lot of chances but we didn’t score. For the most part the game was quite good and we created enough opportunities to score and win the game. Kfar Saba did their job and just because their keeper didn’t have a lot of work doesn’t mean we didn’t have any chances. Many chances went out. We can be happy with what we did and nine of out ten times we would win this type of game for sure. Nobody said it would be easy.”

Potential late game heroics:

“I was thinking we would score at the end like in the Derby. I tried to do my best. I had a chance but I decided to pass the ball, it just wasn’t our day.”

Beer Sheva is now tied with Maccabi on points for first place:

“We will probably have three more games against them and right now we are still in 2015. We have a long season ahead. Even if we win it doesn’t mean that one of us are better. They will fight against us all the way to the end of the year.”

Playing the last Champions League match in Kiev:

“It’s the last game in the Champions League and we have to give everything in this game. We all have the responsibility to give our best and we missed a couple of chances at home. We don’t know when we will play in the competition again. We have to try to win this game and it’s important for the club especially for the UEFA points and rating.”
