The world of football is said to be a sport for men, but international women’s day is an opportunity for me to remind everyone that there is a pretty big amount of women who come to watch football at the stadium and specifically go to Maccabi Tel Aviv matches.

For example, I have been going to matches since I was a teenager and throughout the years going to Maccabi games have been a very positive experience for me. I met my husband at Gate 11 during a Tel Aviv derby and I gave birth to 2 children who are obviously big Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters. Most of my life evolves around the club and like many other fans I adjust my schedule to make sure I don’t miss a match.

When I just started going to games I was one of the “weird crazy ones”. We used to be just a handful, today it’s a totally different story. Nowadays I arrive at Maccabi matches with my daughter and I see many women who are at the game who are not afraid to say ‘I love football, I love Maccabi.’ Women and families share the joy of football together.
Also, as the women’s rights continue to advance, I am happy to see women who are working in key management roles at Maccabi, some who are commentators and others who are in various positions in the sports media world.

As a supporter who feels so much a part of the club, I am happy to see that Maccabi values their female fans. By holding events for the whole family or by making products that are specifically for women, it’s great to see Maccabi including all of its supporters. Now we need to hope that all of us together, men and women, will celebrate with the club we love so much.
