Here’s a side of Nick Blackman that you probably never knew. The Maccabi attacker who arrived this summer from English side Derby County, received an award from the Football Black List organization in London for his project this past summer for the island nation of Barbados.

The Football Black List began operation in 2009 with the goal celebrating the contributions to the sport of football by people from African and Caribbean backgrounds. The organization recognizes the inspiration and example provided by the players and their actions off the pitch and in the community.

Blackman won the “Players Off The Pitch Award” thanks to his charity project from this past summer. Blackman described what he did this past offseason: “My father’s family comes from Barbados and every summer at the end of the season I usually go there on vacation. Over the past number of years I have met many people and have made many friends and we play football together. There are many people in Barbados who do not have jerseys or shoes to wear, so I decided to put together a project where game used jerseys could be donated (#nickskitcollection) at the Derby County Stadium.”

“Amazingly we received over 400 jerseys from all across England,” Blackman added. “I then went to Barbados and I brought the kits primarily to the children from the poorer areas of the Island. It was an amazing experience.”

History in Short
Noam Shoham grew up through the ranks of the Maccabi Tel Aviv Youth Department and helped capture both a Youth League Championship and State Cup. First Team Head Coach Giora Spiegel brought him into the top club in December of 1987 and he made his debut against Beitar Jerusalem. After three seasons where he couldn’t crack the Starting XI he was loaned out to Maccabi Ramat Amidar and Hapoel Ashkelon but came back in time for the 1991/92 league title.

Over the course of seven seasons, the defensive midfielder was an important part of the great Yellow & Blue Team of the mid-90’s and took home plenty of titles during that time. Shoham was a dynamic part of the midfield, stealing balls, pressing and also had a wonderful long range shot. Although he was a central part of Maccabi, he only featured once for the Israel National Team when he made his only appearance against Cyprus in 1992.

Top moment
As a defensive midfielder, Shoham didn’t have the opportunity to score many goals but when he did find the back of the goal, he did so in style. One of those moments came in the 1995/96 Double Season when there was a free kick against Beitar Tel Aviv. Do you want to meet the Maccabi stars face to face? On Wednesday November 15th the Yellow & Blue Community Day will take place at Kiryat Shalom and you’ll have the opportunity to get autographs and take pictures with all of your heroes.

The event will begin at 15:45 and fans must be at the facility by 15:30. Registration opens today, Wednesday and is limited to 400 people. Please note, you will not be able to attend if you do not register in advance.

How does it work?
Registration is open today Wednesday November 8th at 11:00 to all Maccabi FIRST members for the Community Day on Wednesday November 15th at 15:45 at the Kiryat Shalom Training Facility, 106 Derech Ben Tzvi and is limited to 400 participants ONLY.

Each person may register up to 3 participants which includes the person submitting the registration. Just like when you make a reservation at a restaurant, you request a table for yourself plus 2 friends for a total of 3 ONLY.

IMPORTANT:
• Following the registration, you’ll receive an email requesting information about the participants.
• If you registered for the last Community Day and weren’t able to come but didn’t give us notice, you will not be allowed to attend this coming Community Day. If you register for this upcoming Community Day and can’t come, please let us know in advance.
• If weather conditions don’t permit the Community Day to take place, you will be notified a few hours prior to the event and you’ll be able to participate in the Community Day the following month.
• All participants must arrive at the Kiryat Shalom Training Facility by 15:30. Should you be delayed, you may not be able to participate in the event.
• In order to ensure that all fans meet all of the players, special greeting videos may not be recorded at the Training Facility.
• Following your registration, a Maccabi representative will be in touch with you to get all of the participants necessary details.

Entrance to the Training Facility will be granted only after a full security check. Each participant will need to present their Teudat Tzehut ID Card, License or Passport in order to take part in the event. Entrance will not be granted to those whose names do not appear on the official registration list!

Participants are not allowed to bring with professional photographers or videographers.

It’s not just football, basketball or handball. Beginning today, Maccabi Tel Aviv will be represented in the Sports Gaming World. The Maccabi Tel Aviv Football Club joins many of the great teams from around the globe and is proud to be the first in Israel to sign brothers Or and Dor Eligula who will be the Yellow & Blue’s FIFA participants, representing the Club in tournaments both domestically and abroad.

The Eligula brothers are two of the most talented players in Israel and won the last competition which was considered to be the Israeli Gaming Championships. The pair were spotted by Maccabi last year when they won the fan tournament that took place at the Official Club Store on Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv. After claiming the title, they had the opportunity to kickoff against Eyal Golasa and Dor Micha which ended in a victory for the siblings. After their official signing, the brothers commented: “We have been Maccabi fans since we were 5 years old and have been going to matches since then as well. Every child dreams of wearing their club’s jersey and although we didn’t train as professional footballers we were able to join the team in another way and have realized a dream. We are happy to represent the club in any way. Many teams around the

globe have now decided to join the eSports world and sign players who will represent them. I’m happy that Maccabi as a club aspires to reach those same heights and has joined this platform as the leader in Israeli football.”
