Maccabi Tel Aviv ‘Shahar’ played Spanish giants Real Madrid as part of the Mladen Ramljak international tournament in Zagreb, Croatia with both clubs ending their group in the runners up spot.Maccabi were beaten 2-1 by Real Madrid as Agam Hanun (24) scored a temporary equalizer for Dedi Ben Dayan’s side with Julen Jon Guerrero (19) and Cesar Palacios Perez (42) scoring for the Spanish club that edged the Yellow and Blue to third place.

Drawn into Group B’ together with CR Flamengo (Brazil), Udinese Calcio (Italy) and Odense BK (Denmark), Maccabi began the tournament on Thursday with a match against the Rio de Janeiro club. Orel Baye put Maccabi in front before the Brazilians completed a two-goal comeback to win 2-1.On Friday, Yakir Zilberman scored a second half equalizer against Italian outfit Udinese as Maccabi were held to a 1-1 draw. In the third and final match of the group stages Maccabi’s U-19’s beat Danish side Odense 4-1 with Orel Baye (2), Ido Ben Shushan and Ori Azu scoring the goals.Real Madrid finished Group A’ that included hosts GNK Dinamo Zagreb (Croatia), PFC Ludogorets (Bulgaria) and SK Rapid Vienna (Austria) in second place – beat Maccabi in the match for third place.









Maccabi ‘Shahar’ arrived at the Netanya stadium on the back of two successive defeats to Hapoel Be’ersheva and Bnei Sakhnin that saw them concede pole position in the table to Ashdod – the team they knocked out in the Semi Final.
