Maccabi “Oded” Tel Aviv 4:2 Bnei Yehuda
The Under-17 side also picked up an opening day win as Eliezer Ben Aharon’s side defeated Bnei Yehuda 4:2 at the PenguinPickUp Training Ground at Kiryat Shalom. Nehoray Bitton, Tal Torjman (x2) and Or Roizman scored for the Yellow & Blue. Ben Aharon: “It was important to open the season up with a win especially after coming from behind at the half. The match wasn’t played at a very high level, but that’s expected for the first game of the season. We will have to work hard to reach our goals with a lot of will, desire and belief. The players took a good step forward towards our goal and I know that I have something to work with here to continue to move ahead. Next week we visit Tubruk which is a tough pitch. We’ll be ready.”

Maccabi “Shachar” defeats Bnei Sakhnin 2:1
Goals by Barami and Cohen helped the young Yellow & Blue get off to a good start to their title defense in the Israel Youth Premier LeagueThe title defense is underway as Maccabi “Shachar” Tel Aviv visited Bnei Sakhnin. The Club’s U19 side visited the Galilee as Head Coach started 8 veterans and 3 new players.
Starting XI: Daniel Peretz, Michael Chilaka, Alon Shtrozberg, Amit Glazer, Tomer Machluf, Tamir Glazer, Mufleh Shalata, Yoav Hofmayster, Rave Assayag, Omer Barami, Eyal Hen.
First Half
The first quarter hour saw both clubs feeling each other out as the side’s didn’t create many chances with play taking place primarily in the midfield. In the 16’ Sakhnin had the first opportunity of the contest as Muhammed Kahlayla’s shot from the left of the box hit the outside netting. Four minutes later Chilaka began the Maccabi attack from the right side, sent the ball to Barami who crossed it to Assayag but the latter couldn’t get to it in time as the ball went out.

Maccabi then took control of the contest as Assayag had a header chance that hit the post while just before the break, Mahluf sent a ball to Tamir Glazer who tipped the ball to Assayag but his shot went out as the half ended deadlocked at 0:0.

Second Half
Assayag stole the ball in the middle of the pitch in the 48’ as he sent the ball to Barami who passed it to Hen on the left side but the opposing keeper blocked the attempt. As Maccabi continued to press, the Yellow & Blue finally found the back of the goal. Tamir Glazer sent the ball to Shalata who handed it off to Barami who put it behind the keeper for a 1:0 lead.
Sakhnin then pressed to draw even but Adam Suad’s 56’ opportunity from long distance went over the goal, however a 61’ free kick was headed in by Muhammed Osman to even up the contest at 1:1. The host’s continued to pressure the Yellow & Blue goal but a Peretz save and a Shtrozberg clearance kept the score as is. In the 72’ Sakhnin again threatened Peretz’s goal but Osman’s attempt went over the goal.

In the 78’ Maccabi almost took the lead but Tal Yagudayev who had come on as a substitute hit the post. However in the 85’ Bar Cohen who also was introduced earlier into the match found the back of the goal with the winner to take the 2:1 opening day victory and the three points.

Youth Academy Teams open the new campaign
The Under-19 and Under-17 squads will be in action this Saturday as their respective leagues get underway. The U19’s will be at Sakhnin while the U17’s host Bnei YehudaThe 2018/19 season is about to get underway at the Maccabi Tel Aviv “Avi Cohen” Youth Academy and this Saturday both the Under-19 and Under-17 side’s will begin their respective title defenses. The U19s will play at Sakhnin (11:00) while the U17s will host Bnei Yehuda at the PenguinPickUp Training Ground at Kiryat Shalom (09:00).

Maccabi “Shachar” Tel Aviv Under-19
Last season will be remembered for many years to come. The Yellow & Blue won the league championship with a 74.4% win rate while scoring 65 goals and conceding only 24.

Head Coach Guy Tzarfati will continue as the Head Coach while Nissim Dvash will serve as his assistant. A familiar face in Shura Uvarov is now the goalkeeping coach and has already begun working with the youngsters over the past month and a half. The side travelled to Bulgaria for a preseason training camp where they faced CSKA Sofia, Lokomotiv Sofia, Slavin Sofia and other local sides. After returning to Israel, the squad played the First Team’s of Beitar Shimshon Tel Aviv he Beitar Tel Aviv Ramle.
The squad:
- Players who remained from last season: Omer Barami, Amit Glazer, Tamir Glazer, Yoav Hofmayster, Eyal Hen, Roy Mann, Or Itzhak, Tomer Machluf, Daniel Peretz, Alon Shtrozberg and Mufleh Shalata.
- Players who were promoted from the Under-17 team: Rave Assayag, Shay Belhassan, Gil Ben Shalosh, Roie Benbenishti, David Dego, Asaf Hershko, Tal Yagudayev, Omer Itzhaki, Bar Cohen, Dan Lugassi, Guy Mizrahi, Nadav Nidam, Bar Netanel, Omri Ram has Ido Shahar.
- New players who joined the squad: Amit Yakov who returned from loan after a season and a half at Raanana and Michael Chilaka who came from Maccabi Kabilyo Jaffa.
- This season the squad will be comprised of players born in 2000 and 2001 with one player not born in those years, Neil Goldberg who returns from injury.
Players who departed the club:
- Prince Thomas who was loaned Hapoel Hadera’s First Team in the Premier League.
- William Agada who played on loan last season returned to his parent club, Hapoel Katamon.
- Netanel Peretz joined the First Team of Hapoel Marmorek.
- The following players are on loan at Beitar Tel Aviv/Ramle: Noam Cohen. Fadi Najar, Ran Vaturi, Tomer Altman, Junas Gabarin and Eylon Almog.
- Amit Mordechayev joined the Hapoel Raanana U19 side.
This Saturday (11:00) the Under-19’s will travel to Bnei Sakhnin where they will open the 2018/19 Israel Youth Premier League season.
Maccabi “Oded” Tel Aviv – Under-17
The Under-17 side will also begin their 2018/19 campaign under the direction of Eliezer Ben Aharon who will be at the helm for his third season while Jeffrey Yishai will serve as his assistant.

The team is comprised of players born in 2002 who were promoted from the Under-16 side. The U17’s will be defending the league title after winning 21 of 30 matches while scoring 111 goals.

Friendlies at PenguinPickUp Training Ground at Kiryat Shalom
The PenguinPickUp Training Ground at Kiryat Shalom hosted a pair of friendlies. The U16’s fell to Beitar Tubruk 3:2 and the U15 side win 6:1 over Hapoel Rishon Le’ZionThe Maccabi Tel Aviv “Avi Cohen” Youth Academy held two preseason friendlies at the PenguinPickUp Training Ground at Kiryat Shalom. The U16 squad fell to Beitar Tubruk 3:2 as Mufleh Shalata scored together with an own goal for Maccabi. The U15 side defeated Hapoel Rishon LeZion 6:1 as Bar Lin scored a hat trick, Oskar Gloch recorded a brace and Ofer Nagar also found the back of the goal.
The two teams are continuing their preparations for the 2018/19 campaign and the Under-16 club will be in action on September 1st when they open their season at Maccabi Haifa. The Under-15 squad will begin their league season later on.

Maccabi “Shachar” defeats Beitar Shimshon Tel Aviv 2:1
Just before the new season gets underway his coming Saturday, the Under-19 squad played another friendly as Guy Tzarfati’s side defeated the Beitar Shimshon Tel Aviv First TeamMaccabi “Shachar” Tel Aviv played a friendly in preparation for the upcoming 2018/19 season and defeated the First Team of Beitar Shimshon Tel Aviv (Liga B) by the score of 2:1 at the PenguinPickUp Training Ground at Kiryat Shalom. In the match that was played with two 30 minutes halves, the Yellow & Blue fell behind early but was able to overcome the deficit and record the victory.

The friendly was the last tuneup ahead of the 2018/19 campaign which begins on Saturday August 25th at Bnei Sahknin as Guy Tzarfati’s side will begin their title defense.

Welcome: New staff members at the Youth Academy
There’s a number of new staff at the Club’s Youth Academy: Head Coaches, fitness trainers and also a goal keeper coach. Let’s meet themThe Maccabi Tel Aviv “Avi Cohen” Youth Academy has a number of new staff people for the upcoming season with the goal of continuing to improve the development of the young players.
Eran Sassi – Head Coach Under-16
Sassi began his career with Ironi Bat Yam and spent 7 years as the youth coach, Under-19 coach and assistant coach of the first team in the Leumit League. He also worked with the youth sides at Ironi Modiin, Hapoel Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa. Sassi spoke about his new role with the Yellow & Blue: “I was very impressed as to how organized the Youth Academy is and the ability to advance within the club. My goals are to learn and to continue to evolve on a personal level as I help the Academy reach their goals.”
Galil Ben Shenan – Goalkeeper Coach Under-17
The new goalkeeper coach joined the Youth Academy and also played as a keeper with a number of clubs including Hapoel Tel Aviv, Hapoel Haifa, Hapoel Beer Sheva and Ashkelon. After a serious injury three seasons ago, Galil began his new career as a coach and first plied his trade with Ashkelon’s First Team. “I’ve heard so much about Maccabi’s Youth Academy and it’s methodology. When I arrived here I understood that I had never experienced such a level of professionalism. It’s great to work at a place like this with the goal of helping develop a new generation of keepers.”

Tzalil Shoshan – Fitness trainer Under-17
Tzalil returned from Spain and Portugal a year ago where he worked towards a secondary degree in sports science. Over the course of his career, Shoshan worked at the Wingate Institute for excellence with the women’s youth National Basketball Teams while also lecturing and leading other courses. In addition to his work at Maccabi he will be at Beitar Tel Aviv/Ramle’s First Team where there are plenty of Yellow & Blue Academy players. “Arriving at Maccabi is a very significant step in my career and I’ll be at the top Academy in the country with the youngsters with the most potential as well as an incredible staff. My goals are to help the Academy reach the highest of heights and to work with the players and turn them into better athletes.”

Tal Volik – Fitness Trainer Under-16
After completing his military service, Tal lived in Munich, Germany where he also coached youth clubs. Last season he worked at the Maccabi Tel Aviv Football School and is currently a student at the Wingate Institute as he continues to develop his own skills on the fitness realm. “Last season I volunteered in the fitness department at the Academy in order to learn from the best of the best. The fitness department is part of the sports science department at the Academy with the best foundation in the country. The players at the Academy receive the best tools in order to help turn them into better athletes which will result in them becoming even better footballers. My goal is to learn and continue to gain experience and also help develop youth players as that is my passion.”
Tamir Tubol – Head Coach Under-11
Tamir worked for five years at the Hapoel Tel Aviv Youth Department in various roles including as a Head Coach, assistant coach as well as the football school this past season. “I’m very happy to join the Maccabi Tel Aviv Youth Academy which is no doubt the best in the nation. My goal is to continue to learn in each and every training session from the entire staff and to improve and develop as a coach. Of course, I want to also help the youngsters advance and improve on a daily basis.”
Idan Bitton – Head Coach Under-8
Bitton developed as a footballer at the Maccabi Tel Aviv Youth Department and played on various teams as well as the First Team for a season when they played in the Champions League (2004/05). Bitton then went on to play for Hakoach Ramat Gan, Ramat Hasharon and Hapoel Ashkelon. “I had just completed my studies at Wingate and then I called Maccabi up immediately just like a child would call a parent after a long vacation. I had an interview a couple of months ago with the Youth Department Manager Guy Zuckerman and from there as the say the rest was history. My expectations are to learn as much as possible from the professional staff and to give over my knowledge to help develop the youngsters with the proper values, honor and a desire for excellence.”

Maccabi “Shachar” & Beitar Tel Aviv/Ramle’s First Team draw 1:1
The Under-19 squad is preparing for the new season and on Wednesday, Guy Tzarfati’s players drew with the Beitar Tel Aviv/Ramle First Team. Thursday: The young Yellow & Blue will take part in a special tournament in JerusalemMaccabi “Shachar” Tel Aviv played a friendly ahead of the 2018/19 campaign. The young Yellow & Blue drew 1:1 against Beitar Tel Aviv/Ramle’s First Team as the match was played at the PenguinPickUp Training Facility at Kiryat Shalom. The visitor’s took a 1:0 lead but Head Coach Guy Tzarfati’s squad was able to even up the score thanks to a goal by Ido Shahar.

The Under-19 side will continue to prepare for the opening of the new season on August 25th when they visit Bnei Sakhnin. On Thursday, a special tournament will take place in Jerusalem with 6 Israel Youth Premier League teams who will be divided into two groups with the winner of each playing in the final. The matches will be comprised of two 20-minute halves.
Maccabi Tel Aviv, Maccabi Haifa, Maccabi Netanya, Beitar Jerusalem, Bnei Sakhnin and Hapoel Beer Sheva will all take part in the competition.

North Football School New Format
The North Football School is expanding. This coming season there will be two Northern facilities associated with the school: The Tel Aviv University that renovated their synthetic pitches and the Athletic Center at Hadar Yosef that will continue its programming this seasonThe North Football School is expanding and this season there will be two training facilities associated with the school: The Tel Aviv University that renovated their synthetic pitches and the Athletic Center at Hadar Yosef. The programming will be in full conjunction with the Youth Academy. The North Football School’s goal is to provide the children with the correct elements and best professional foundation, training them to be first class players.

This coming season, the players will enjoy two training sessions during the week (not on Saturday) as the Club’s Youth Academy will also organize a league within the club in which players will play against other teams.

The Tel Aviv University Facility is home to the Football School and the Maccabi Tel Aviv North League Teams. The facility has brand new synthetic pitches that were renovated over the summer in order to improve the level of the training sessions at the facility.
This coming season, the facility will have a number of new Football School teams for children ages 5-8.
2. Athletic Center at Hadar Yosef – Bekhor Shalom Shitrit Street 6, Tel Aviv
The Maccabi Tel Aviv North Football School also takes place at the National Athletic Stadium. There is a large grass field at the site which will help the youngsters continue to improve as footballers.
This season there will also be a Girls Team under the direction of Coach Dana Nisenboim – 050-6300890. The Girls Team is open for children born between 2006-2011.

The Israel Under-19 National Team under the direction of Alon Hazan played a pair of friendlies against their counterparts from Romania. Seven of the squad members are from the Youth AcademyThe Israel Under-19 National Team played a pair of friendlies against their counterpart from Romania. The matches were held in preparation for the European Championship qualifiers in November when they will face Azerbaijan, Liechtenstein and Georgia.

The first friendly took place on Tuesday as the Blue & White fell 2:1 while on Thursday Alon Hazan’s side defeated Romania 2:0.
The Maccabi Tel Aviv players who took part in the friendlies were, keeper Daniel Peretz, defenders Alon Shtrozberg, Tomer Mahluf, Amit Glazer, midfielders Yoav Hofmayster, Eden Kartzev and striker Mufleh Shalata.

Preseason: Maccabi “Oded” Tel Aviv (U17) faced Beitar Shimshon Tel Aviv (U19) in a friendly ahead of the start of the new campaign. Eliezer Ben Aharon’s side won the match that took place at the PenguinPickUp Training Ground at Kiryat ShalomThe Maccabi Tel Aviv “Avi Cohen” Youth Academy’s Under-17 team took on the Beitar Shimshon Tel Aviv Under-19 side as the young Yellow & Blue continued preparations for the new season. The young Yellow & Blue took home the 3:2 win as Tal Torjman scored a brace and Nov Berkovich added a single marker in a match that took place at the PenguinPickUp Training Ground at Kiryat Shalom.

Head Coach Eliezer ben Aharon summed up the contest: “This was our first win this preseason in Israel. There are some things that we improved and there are others that we still need to work on. Onwards and upwards.”
