This being the close season, it seems fitting to return to some of the hottest summer transfer window acquisitions of the past decade and have a look where they are today

Dulee Johnson

The short but able Liberian midfielder took over the reins of the Maccabi Tel Aviv midfield after arriving from Swedish club AIK in the summer of 2008. Despite appearing in most of the Maccabi's matches that season, he struggled to leave his mark and returned to his former club the following season. He made 35 appearances for AIK in the 2009/10 season scoring four goals but was forced to leave the club at the end of the season and since then has failed to find a new "home". The last three seasons he has spent primarily on the bench at Greek side Panetolikos, Dutch side De Graafschap and even the South African club AmaZulu. Last April the midfielder returned for the third time to Sweden to open the current season at IK Brage but is still spending much of his time on the bench.

Emanuel Mayoka

The Zambian international striker joined the Youth division at Maccabi Tel Aviv in the 2008/09 season at the age of 17 and was quickly moved up to the senior squad where during his two-year stay he scored 16 goals in all competitions. In the summer of 2010 he was purchased by the Swiss side Young Boys for a fee estimated at 1.7 million dollars. What it took Mayoka two years to accomplish at Maccabi he achieved in his first season in Switzerland, scoring 16 goals in all competitions and claiming credit to 9 assists. Among other things he was part of the squad that reached the last 32 of the Europa League competition, scoring three goals. In his second season he scored 13 goals in all competitions and claimed credit for an additional 10 assists but at the end of the season he was sold to the English side Southampton, where he spent most of last season on the bench making just 11 appearances.  As of the moment he is still a Southhampton player but is known to be considering offers from other clubs with his market value estimated at 2.6 million Euros.

Joe Bizera

It's not entirely clear how, but in the half season that Uruguyan Joe Émerson Bizera Bastos played for Maccabi Tel Aviv he succeeded in capturing the hearts of Maccabi Tel Aviv fans everywhere. The defender arrived at Maccabi Tel Aviv in February 2008 on loan from the Italian side Cagliari, appeared in 16 league matches and even scored two goals. His short visit in Israel was the start of series of moves made in successive January transfer windows. Much to the disappointment of Maccabi fans, at the end of the season here he moved on to the Greek side P.A.O.K. Thessaloniki where he stayed until January 2010, moving on once again, this time to the Spanish side Albacete. The following summer saw him return to Israel, this time to Maccabi Petah Tikva, but again in the January transfer window he was on the move, to the Uruguayan club Bella Vista, where after season's end he moved to the Paraguayan side Club Libertad for the start of the 2012/13 season. Not surprisingly, in January yet again he moved on to his present club, the side Atlante of the Mexican Liga MX (Premier League).
