Almog: “We had a fantastic season”

The striker who scored a brace in the Under-19’s 5:1 victory over Maccabi Petah Tikva in the Championship match summed up the season: “We were together during the tough times, I’m happy that we were able to take the championship”

Eylon Almog scored a brace in the championship game, a 5:1 win over Bnei Yehuda on Matchday 29 of the Israel Youth Premier League and summed up the season as a whole:

“It’s a great feeling and I’m so happy for myself and the whole team. We had a fantastic season although we didn’t begin so well. Slowly but surely we improved and we were together during the tough times as we dealt with the difficulties. I’m happy we were able to take the championship.”

The brace scored in the championship match:
“It’s not just these two goals but the ones that I scored throughout the season. Today was the cherry on top of the whipped cream and I enjoyed it very much. We will have quite the celebration at our last match next week.”

Working hard with his teammates:
“They are each amazing and everyone worked so hard during training including the ones that sometimes got called up to the first team and came back. I think we did a great job altogether and I want to acknowledge everyone on the team.”

About Guy Tzarfati:
“Guy Tzarfati is a role model and was a great player. He was always here for us and not just on the pitch, but phone calls and messages. He cared about each one of us as well as the rest of the staff, I have no words.”

Next week’s celebrations:
“We will get together and celebrate properly next week when each one of us gets a championship plate.”

After almost securing the league title last week, Guy Tzarfati’s side officially became Under-19 Champions thanks to a 5:1 win over Maccabi Petah Tikva. Eylon Almog with a brace, William Agada, Mufleh Shalata and Netanel Peretz all scored for the Yellow & Blue as they now have an 8 point lead atop the table. Maccabi “Eldad” Tel Aviv 7:0 Gadna Tel Aviv “Nissim”
After winning the league title last week against Hapoel Beer Sheva, Ori David’s side deleted Gadna on the final Matchday of the season at home. Elad Kaplan x2, Oskar Glok x2, Ori Halevi x2 and Bar Lin all scored for the young Yellow & Blue. The Head Coach summed up the match: “We played very well for most of the match and we had endless chances near the goal and we scored 7 nice markers. I’m very satisfied by the guys performance.”

Maccabi “Ilan” Tel Aviv 3:0 Maccabi “Hadar” Herzliya
The Under-15 North squad won on the final Matchday of the season and finished in 3rd place, with 8 wins out of their last 9 matches. Asaf Heber’s team may have won their last match of the league but will play in the State Cup Final in Wednesday against Hapoel Beer Sheva at Ramat Gan Stadium. Hebei commented on the contest: “We had two main goals this match, the first was to end the league campaign with a win and the second was to make sure we all came out of the match healthy and no one would be suspended ahead of the State Cup Final on Wednesday. We did both as we took care of our opponent just as the match began and we attacked well. We scored three goals and we could have even scored more. Now it’s on to Wednesday’s State Cup Final at Ramat Gan Stadium.”

The Camera’s Lens: Maccabi “Shachar” Championship Match

Maccabi "Shachar" defeated Maccabi Petah Tikva 5:1 on Matchday 29 of the Israel Youth Premier League to secure the championship. Guy Tzarfati's squad played a magnificent match and celebrated their accomplishment

Tzarfati: “This championship is for the entire club”

After securing the league title with a 5:1 win over Hapoel Petah Tikva, Head Coach Guy Tzarfati spoke about his feelings about winning the championship: “I came full circle as I won the Under-19 title 22 years ago as the captain of the team”

After three seasons, the league championship will return to Kiryat Shalom. Maccabi “Shachar” Tel Aviv officially wrapped up the title with a 5:1 victory over Hapoel Petah Tikva and will host Kiryat Shemona next week when they lift the championship plate.

Head Coach Guy Tzarfati shared his thoughts on the championship:
“It’s a great feeling. I came full circle as I won the Under-19 title 22 years ago as the captain of the team and today, 22 years later I took home the championship as the coach. I’m happy for the players and the terrific staff as this is a championship for the entire club and that’s how it is at Maccabi as we all work together.”

The process:
“It took time for me to understand how to coach a youth team and players. Whoever doesn’t work in this industry doesn’t understand that it’s 24/7 work to be with the players as each has their own story that has to be processed both in your head and in your heart. It’s a huge challenge and I really enjoyed the process and what I am doing here.”

Together as a team:
“We’re going to eat together as a team and once a month we do something as group whether it’s Playstation, laser tag, paintball or going to a restaurant. Other than the hard work we all put in together, it’s important to also do fun things so the players get to know each other.”

Asking the fans to come out next week to see watch the team lift the championship plate:
“All season long I haven’t asked the Maccabi fans to come see us, but our last match which is at home we want the fans to come and pay homage to the squad. I want them to see what Maccabi Tel Aviv is all about.”

Now it’s official: The Israel Youth Premier League Ligat Ha’Al Championship will return to Kiryat Shalom!

Maccabi “Shachar” Tel Aviv visited Maccabi Petah Tikva on Matchday 29 of league play. With a 6 point lead over second place Hapoel Raanana and a +18 goal differential any result other than a defeat would guarantee Guy Tzarfati’s side the championship.

Starting XI: Daniel Peretz, Noam Cohen, Alon Shtrozberg, Fadi Najar, Yoav Hofmayster, Amit Glazer, Tomer Altman, Prince Thomas, Mufleh Shalata, Eylon Almog, William Agada.

First Half
In the 7’ the Yellow & Blue had their opening chance of the contest when Shalata took a quality attempt, however his opportunity went out. 12 minutes later, the host’s took the lead when Petah Tikva went out on a counter as Arad Bar sent a left footed ball into the far left hand corner beating Peretz.

The U19’s could have drawn even in the 34’ when Agada’s chance in the box was just cleared off the line by a Petah Tikva defender. Two minutes later the host’s almost doubled their advantage when Tomer Benbenishti beat the Yellow & Blue defenders but Peretz was in place to make the stop as the team’s went into the break with Petah Tikva sporting a 1:0 lead.

Second Half
Maccabi began taking control of the match and in the 62’ they drew even at 1:1 when Almog took a long distance scorcher that went into the top left corner of the goal. Two minutes later an Altman cross found Agada in the box who headed it home for a 2:1 lead.

In the 68’ Almog found the back of the goal once again for a 3:1 advantage while Atman sent the ball to Shalata who added the 4th goal for Maccabi “Shachar”. Just before the final whistle, Netanel Peretz added his name to the goal scorers list to give the U19’s a 5:1 win and a 9th Championship!

The Under-16’s are Champions

On the final Matchday of the season, Maccabi “Eli Fuchs” Tel Aviv won the league title in a photo finish. The Yellow & Blue defeated Bnei Yehuda 1:0 at Shechunat HaTikva thanks to Itay Ben Hemo’s goal as the team won the championship due to a better goal differential

The Under-16 club brought home another title for the Maccabi Tel Aviv Youth Department as Raymond Atteveld and assistant Jeffery Yishay’s side won the league championship with a 1:0 win over Bnei Yehuda at Shechunat HaTikva. Maccabi “Eli Fuchs” entered the contest in first place level on points with Beitar Jerusalem but with a better goal differential. A win over Bnei Yehuda would bring the title home to Kiryat Shalom.

Raymond Atteveld’s squad had a wonderful campaign winning 21 matches, drawing 4 and falling 4 times while scoring 111 goals while conceding 36 in 30 contests. Tal Torjman led all scorers with 23 goals for the Under-16’s.

After getting off to rough start, Atteveld took over the team and together with assistant Jeffery Yishay and the rest of the staff along with hard work, the Under-16 side got back onto the winning track. The squad ended the campaign with 9 straight wins and scored in 29 out of 30 matches while scoring 3.7 goals on average per game.

Atteveld summed up the match and the season: “This was a tough match as the opponent wasn’t really there to play but to stand behind the ball making it difficult to break down the wall. We spoke to the players about it as we expected that they would play like that. I told them to be patient and that the goal would come even if it was near the end of the match.”

“We tried to play football but at times our decisions were quick and not correct. In the second half the opponent began to tire and the distance between players began to open up. Our goal was scored off of a set piece and we had other chances that could have gone in. I am very happy with the result and what we accomplished as the players deserved it. After a season in which the team had 3 coaches, which is not something normal at this age, plus the unwarranted criticism we lifted ourselves up and the players went forward. We were able to move into first place and hold onto it for the balance of the season.”

With two matches remaining, Guy Tzarfati’s side has a 6 point lead over second place Hapoel Raanana and an 18 goal advantage as they come into the contest with 6 wins in a row against the host who is in 6th place with 4 victories out of their last 5 games.

The club’s Under-19 team continued their momentum as they won an important contest against Petah Tikva on Matchday 28 of the Israel Youth Premier League Ligat Ha’Al. With their lead atop the table at 6 points thanks to Raanana’s loss and only two matches remaining together with a +18 goal differential, the young Yellow & Blue have almost wrapped up the league title. Maccabi “Oded” Tel Aviv (U17)
The Under-17 side is on break until May 16 due to the Israel National Team taking part in the European Championships. Five Yellow & Blue representatives are with the squad in England. Last Friday Dan Lugassi scored in a 2:1 loss to the host.

After a week off, the Under-16 side was back in action and picked up a big 7:0 win over Ashkelon to remain in first place due to a better goal differential than Beitar Jerusalem. Yonatan Paz, Tal Torjman x2, Niv Berkovich, Yishay Bozorgi, Roy Maayan and Amit Hevroni all scored for Maccabi. Head Coach Raymond Atteveld summed up the win: “We played well right from the get go and on the first attack we also scored. We continued to press the opponent and we could have scored even more goals. We used the players effectively as we have another match on Tuesday. All in all this was a good result and we didn’t concede a goal along with working together both for a defensive and offensive standpoint.

The Under-15 North Team defeated Kfar Saba on Matchday 29 of league play as the Yellow & Blue are in 3rd place with 7 wins out of their last 8 matches. Ben Lineker scored for Asaf Heber’s squad who summed up the performance: “The opponent who is one place behind us on the table gave us a tough time but we have been playing well lately. We scored the goal early on in the 10’ and we were able to cook down defensively from there. We controlled the pace of play but we missed some good chances. Near the end tiredness set in but we held on to the result.”

Under-19’s on the cusp of the Championship

Due to second place Raanana’s loss today, Guy Tzarfati’s side is ahead by 6 points on the table with a favorable goal differential and just two matches left. The squad can officially win the league Saturday against Maccabi Petah Tikva

With two Matchdays remaining in the Israel Youth Premier League Ligat Ha’Al, the Maccabi Tel Aviv Under-19 Team, Maccabi “Shachar” have almost secured the league title.

Guy Tzarfati’s Yellow & Blue defeated Hapoel Petah Tikva on Saturday and thanks to Maccabi Haifa’s 1:0 win over Hapoel Raanana today (Sunday) Maccabi now has a 6 point lead and a goal differential of 18 with just two matches left in the season.

The Under-19 side’s campaign began with a rough start collecting only 10 points in their first 8 matches good for 10th place. However, the turning point occurred when Maccabi played Hapoel Beer Sheva at Wassermil Stadium and went on a streak of 16 wins in their last 20 matches.

Week after week, the team climbed towards the top of the table thanks to victories over Maccabi Netanya, Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel Raanana who battled the Yellow & Blue all season long. This coming Saturday Maccabi “Shachar” will visit Maccabi Petah Tikva at 16:30 and any result other than a defeat will officially hand the Championship to the Yellow & Blue for the 9th time in their history.
